Play Park News June 2016

Play Park;

Uplawmoor Development Trust was delighted to be able to announce at Saturday’s Gala Day that we were going ahead with a major upgrade of the Uplawmoor Play Park with lots of new equipment, picnic tables and new paths.  We will also be putting in adult fitness equipment in the area between the goal post and the tennis courts.   There are one or two things which need to happen before we can actually start work.  At the moment we have grant funding totalling £70,000, and the cost of the upgrade is £75,000.  We expect to have positive news from the Lotto Awards for All fund in a couple of weeks for this final amount of £5,000.  However if for some reason we don’t get that £5,000, we will go ahead with the project anyway with a very slightly reduced scope, as we can use some of our own funds to get closer to the cost.

 Also there are some actions which East Renfrewshire Council   needs to take.  The most important one is for a legal document;  the formal lease agreement between ERC and UDT for the land to be used, and it has to be completed before any work can start.  At this time, ERC thought the document could be completed in August.  We will do all we can to try to bring this date forward, so at this stage work will start in August.

  You will see in this post a plan of the new Play Park, and a full plan will be fixed to the current play park fence. This shows all the equipment and the way it will be laid out.  If you have any questions or comments, please contact David Riddet on 850777.

  A big thanks to all the villagers involved -  Allison McKenzie, Zoe Harvey, Ann Paterson, Ann Corbett ,Lorna Steele,  Stuart Wilson and Mark Street, and an extra vote of thanks to Vicky Mulholland who helped greatly with the wording on Grant Application  Forms where questions  like “Why should we give you the money” were asked.
