Uplawmoor Development Trust (UDT) started as a steering group in the summer of 2013 after consultation with the Uplawmoor Community Council on whether the village and community would benefit from the formation of a Trust.
A small group led by John Raeside & David Riddet, was formed to acertain the advantages of a Development Trust. Its work included consulting with Development Trusts Association Scotland DTAS and visiting other trusts to learn from their experiences.
In accordance with good practice it was decided to collect the views of the whole community on a number of issues. This resulted in a questionaire being distributed to 220 house holds with in the village and approximately 100 outlying house holds.
Approximately 75% of the households with in the village and 40% of the outlying households returned their surveys. In total over 200 were completed,
The results were collated and fed back to the community on the 24th of November 2013.
85% of the replies were in favour of the formation of a trust and UDT has been incorporated as a company limited by guarantee.
In 2017, by unanimous vote, the Trust was changed from a Limited Company to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO)
